On January 17, 2010, U.S. Ambassador and Mrs. James B. Cunningham tonight celebrated the initial steps in the successful implementation of the education program, “Operation Respect: Don’t Laugh at Me, a program that provides tools and techniques to create a respectful, safe and tolerant climate of learning in the classroom and the community. Their special guests – legendary U.S. folksinger Peter Yarrow, Israeli singing icon David Broza, and the “Voices of Peace Choir” of the Arab-Jewish Center in Jaffa – all performed before an enthusiastic and warm crowd at the Ambassador’s residence.
On March 25, 2009, Ambassador James Cunningham addressed a conference at the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace on the Mount Scopus campus of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He addressed the hard political decisions and diplomatic negotiations necessary to reach peace, and the lasting impact of the treaty.
